Day 46Young Woman of Faith

Strong and Courageous

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Joshua 1:9

God didn't say this to someone who felt no fear. He said it to Joshua, who stood before an enormous mission, with an entire nation depending on him, with no instruction manual. He had every reason to be afraid. And it was exactly to him that this promise came.

It's for you too. In the middle of your mission — whether it's school, an internship, family, ministry, whatever God has placed in front of you — this word is yours.

"Be strong" doesn't mean "don't feel it." It means "even feeling it, move forward." Courage isn't the absence of fear — it's moving despite the fear, because you trust Him more than you fear the situation.

And the reason to be courageous isn't you. It's Him. "The Lord your God is with you." He wasn't with you. He won't only be with you in the future. He is with you now, today, in this situation that seems too big. He doesn't leave when you tremble.

Prayer

Lord, I don't need courage that comes from me — I need Your presence that makes me courageous. Thank You for being with me. Today I move forward with You. Amen.
