Day 24Young Woman of Faith

When Friendships Shape Who You're Becoming

Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.

1 Corinthians 15:33

This is going to sound harsh, but it's true and it's said with love: the people you spend your time with have more influence on who you're becoming than you realize.

This isn't about judging anyone or isolating yourself from the world. It's about being honest: your closest circle of friends is pulling you in some direction — up or down. Toward faith or away from it. Toward character or toward indifference.

That doesn't mean your friends need to be perfect. But it does mean you need to be intentional about who speaks the loudest into your life. Who challenges you to be better? Who points you back to God when you want to give up? Who's honest with you when you're wrong?

Those are the friendships worth cultivating. And you can be that friend to someone else too — that presence that lifts up, that points to the light, that helps another person become more of who God created them to be.

Choose well. And be the friend you wish you had.

Prayer

Lord, help me be intentional with my friendships. I want to be surrounded by people who point me to You — and I want to be that presence for others too. Amen.
