Day 13 — Young Woman of Faith
Social Media Doesn't Define You
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.”
1 John 2:15
This doesn't mean the world is evil in itself, or that you should shut yourself off from everything. It means the world runs on a system of values — and that system often goes against who you are in God.
Social media is a powerful part of that system today. It creates impossible beauty standards, measures worth in likes, rewards performance, and punishes authenticity. And it's so easy to get swept into the game without even noticing — posting to be approved of, comparing yourself to feel better or worse, building an edited version of yourself for others to consume.
But you are not content. You are not a personal brand. You are a person, made by God, with a depth that no post could ever hold.
Use social media. Like things. Express yourself. Connect. But don't let it become the thermometer of your identity. The number of followers you have says nothing about the value you hold in God's eyes.
Close the app sometimes. Sit with God. Remember who you are, far from any screen.
Prayer
God, sometimes I lose myself trying to be who social media wants me to be. Help me remember who I am in You — away from the screens, away from the comparisons, away from the performance. Amen.
