Day 12 — Young Woman of Faith
You Don't Have to Prove Yourself
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
Psalm 23:1
There's a specific kind of exhaustion that comes from feeling like you always have to prove yourself. Prove you're capable, that you're worthy, that you deserve the space you occupy. That you're not weak, that you'll manage, that you're not a mistake.
Psalm 23 begins in a simple, radical way: the Lord is my shepherd. And whoever has a good shepherd doesn't have to run around alone searching for pasture. He leads. He provides. He cares.
When God is your shepherd, you don't have to knock yourself out proving you have worth. He already knows you, already sustains you, already knows what you need before you ask. Your job is to follow — not to fight alone to sustain yourself.
This isn't passivity. It's trust. It's knowing that the effort you put in doesn't have to be born out of fear of not being enough, but out of the gratitude of someone who is already provided for and loved.
You don't have to prove yourself to God. And you don't have to prove yourself to the world. Your sufficiency is already guaranteed.
Prayer
Lord, help me stop running to prove myself. I want to trust that as my Shepherd, You provide what I need. May I rest in that truth today. Amen.
