Day 70 — Goodnight, Lord
Gratitude for the Night That Has Come
“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 118:24
Night, too, is a gift from God. After the hours of activity, He created a time of pause, of silence, of stillness — and that is grace. How good that the day doesn't last forever, that there is a night for the body to rest and the soul to breathe. Before you sleep, give thanks for it: for the bed, for the tasks finished, for the permission to simply stop. The night that has come was made by the Lord just as much as the day, and in it too there is reason for joy. Whoever receives the night with gratitude sleeps far more peacefully than whoever resists it. Tonight, instead of mourning that the day is over or fearing tomorrow, rejoice in this night God has given you. It's a daily gift: an invitation to rest. Receive it gratefully and sleep in peace.
Prayer
Father, thank You for this night, made by You for my rest. I rejoice in it and receive it as a gift. Quiet my heart and give me peaceful sleep. Amen.
