Day 61Goodnight, Lord

He Renews What Has Been Worn Away

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

2 Corinthians 4:16

By the end of the day, the body grows tired, and inside, we wear down too. But there is a renewal that happens exactly when the outside runs dry: the inner self is remade day after day in God's hands. Today's weariness is not your permanent state. While you rest, God is renewing on the inside what life has worn away. So there's no reason to lose heart over the exhaustion you feel right now — it's part of a cycle in which the Lord always remakes you. Today, don't confuse being tired with being finished. You are being renewed, even when you don't feel it. Hand over to God the wear and tear of the day and sleep, trusting that by morning there will be in you an inner strength that doesn't come from you, but from Him.

Prayer

Lord, on the outside I feel worn out, but I trust that on the inside You are renewing me. Restore what this day has worn away while I sleep. I won't let discouragement win. Amen.
