Day 54Goodnight, Lord

A lamp for the night

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Psalm 119:105

Notice that the lamp doesn't light up the whole road — just your feet, the next step. And that's enough. At night, when the mind wants to see the entire future at once and grows troubled because it can't, the Word reminds us that God gives enough light for the next step, not for the whole journey. You don't need to see where the road ends in order to sleep in peace; you only need to trust the One holding the lamp. The path ahead may look dark to your eyes, but not to His. Tonight, stop trying to light up what God hasn't revealed yet. Rest in the light He has already given — today's light — and trust that when the next step comes, the light will come with it. Sleep: you have enough light for what you need.

Prayer

Father, thank You that Your Word lights up my next step. I don't need to see everything right now. I rest, trusting that You guide me one step at a time. Amen.
