Day 52Goodnight, Lord

You don't have to carry tomorrow today

Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Matthew 6:34

Jesus said something that is pure rest: each day already has its own measure of difficulty, and it doesn't need to carry tomorrow's too. The anxious mind does the opposite — it piles today's weariness onto tomorrow's fear and tries to carry it all at once, at night, when you should be resting. But you don't have today's strength for tomorrow's problem, and God never gave it to you for that. Grace comes daily, in the right measure, at the right time. Tonight, don't get ahead of a weight that isn't even yours yet. Leave tomorrow with its own concerns and hand them to God when they arrive. For now, today is enough, and today is already over. Sleep without carrying what hasn't come yet. Tomorrow will have its own grace when it dawns.

Prayer

Father, I will not carry tomorrow tonight. What I lived today is enough, and I hand it over to You. Guard my rest and take care of my tomorrow when it comes. Amen.
