Day 46Goodnight, Lord

Sleep is a gift from God

I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.

Psalm 3:5

There are nights when we treat sleep like an enemy — getting upset for not falling asleep, anxious about having to wake up early, counting down the hours left. But sleep isn't an adversary; it's a gift. God designed your body to need rest, and there is wisdom and care in that. When you sleep, you're accepting a gift from Him, not wasting time. Stop fighting the night. Instead of demanding perfect sleep of yourself, receive rest as grace. And if it's slow to come, don't turn the waiting into a battle — rest even while awake, trusting that God sustains you either way. Tonight, treat sleep for what it is: a daily embrace from God, saying "stop now, I'll take care of the rest." Accept the gift and sleep.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the gift of sleep. Teach me to receive it without anxiety, as Your grace. I lie down trusting that You sustain me, whether I'm asleep or awake. Amen.
