Day 40 — Goodnight, Lord
Gratitude before anything else
“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”
Colossians 3:17
What if you ended the day giving thanks, not for what was grand, but for what was ordinary? The simple fact that you worked, ate, talked, rested — all of it can become gratitude. Our lives are made up of more ordinary days than special moments, and God is present in all of them. When you give thanks for the ordinary, you discover just how cared for you were in the small things: the hands that served, the steps that went well, the night that finally arrived so you could rest. Tonight, before you sleep, don't wait for a big reason to be thankful. Give thanks for the ordinary day God gave you, because there was grace in it too. And sleep with a heart made light by recognizing God's care even in what seemed unremarkable.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for my ordinary day and for everything I did in it. In every simple thing, You were with me. I sleep grateful, recognizing Your grace in the ordinary. Amen.
