Day 38 — Goodnight, Lord
Rest from trying to please everyone
“For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men?... for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.”
Galatians 1:10
How many hours of your day were spent trying to satisfy, please, and never disappoint anyone? It's a weariness that climbs into bed with you: the feeling that you never did enough for everybody. Tonight, rest from that. You weren't called to carry everyone's approval on your shoulders — only to live before God, who already approves of you in Christ. What people thought of you today doesn't have to become your pillow of thorns. There is only one gaze that truly matters, and He looks at you with love, not with demands. Set down the weight of being perfect for others. Before you sleep, trade the approval you keep chasing for the approval you already have in God. In Him, you can rest without having to prove anything.
Prayer
Lord, I let go of the weight of pleasing everyone. Your gaze upon me is enough. Free me from others' expectations and give me rest in Your approval. Amen.
