Day 13 — Goodnight, Lord
The Lord Is My Shepherd
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”
Psalm 23:1-2
Notice what the Shepherd does with the weary sheep: He makes her lie down. He doesn't push her toward one more effort, doesn't demand more productivity — He leads her to green pastures, to still water, to rest. Tonight, at the end of your day, let yourself be led the same way. You don't need to chase after everything that's still undone; you need to lie down where the Shepherd leads you. Under His care, nothing essential will be lacking. He knows your weariness and knows when it's time to give you a pause. Stop striving for today. Accept being led gently to the still waters. The Shepherd who tended the flock all day long will not let anything be lacking to the sheep who trusts Him for her sleep.
Prayer
Lord, You are my Shepherd. Make me lie down in peace and lead me beside the still waters. I trust that under Your care nothing essential will be lacking to me. I rest in You. Amen.
