Day 91Closer to God — 365 Days

When Life Isn't What You Planned

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Jeremiah 29:11

This verse was written for people in exile — far from home, far from the plans they'd had, living a chapter they never chose. And God sent them a word in the middle of that hard place.

He didn't say, "it will end soon." He said, "I have thoughts of peace for you." While you're in the middle of what you never planned, He is already planning the next chapter. And His plans are good.

"The expected end" — literally, "a future and a hope." This is for you who feel your future is at risk, that things won't come together, that you've lost too much to start over. He still has plans. Good plans.

Your life hasn't slipped out of His control. It's on a path you can't see in full, but He can. And the thoughts He has toward you are thoughts of peace.

Prayer

Lord, when my plans aren't Your plans, help me trust Yours. Your thoughts toward me are thoughts of peace. I want to believe that today, even when it's hard. Amen.
