Day 90Closer to God — 365 Days

Letting Go to Fly

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:7

The spirit of fear didn't come from God. It's worth repeating: the voice that paralyzes, that shrinks you back, that tells you that you can't, that predicts the worst — is not the spirit God gave us.

What God gave us is different in every way: power — the ability to do what He calls us to do. Love — which casts out fear, as John says. A sound mind — balance, discipline, clarity. Everything anxiety steals, God restores through the Spirit who lives in you.

You have within you the spirit of power. Not the power that comes from self-confidence — the power that comes from knowing in Whom you believe. And that power is enough for what you're facing today.

You were made to fly, not to shrink back. To love, not to fear. To act with wisdom, not to freeze. That is God's original plan for you.

Prayer

God, remind me that You gave me power, love, and a sound mind. Today I reject the spirit of fear and receive what You have given me. Help me to live like someone who has received this gift. Amen.
