Day 84 — Closer to God — 365 Days
When the Heart Grows Heavy at Night
“My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.”
Psalm 5:3
There's a beauty in the psalmist's rhythm: in the morning, he presents himself. In the morning, he makes his requests. And then — he waits.
That active waiting is the opposite of anxiety. When you're anxious, you don't wait — you anticipate the worst, imagine catastrophes, try to solve what hasn't even happened yet. Waiting on God means placing the request in His hand and trusting He will answer at the right time.
The night before may have been hard. Your thoughts may have stolen your sleep. But morning is always a new chance to begin this conversation with God again.
You don't need to arrive at this conversation perfect. Arrive honest. "Lord, yesterday was hard. Today I want to start differently. Here I am." And then — stay. Wait. Not with anxiety, but with the expectation of someone who knows the Father listens.
Prayer
Lord, in the morning I come to You. Receive my voice today, my requests, my heart. I want to learn to wait with faith, not with fear. Amen.
