Day 80Closer to God — 365 Days

The Voice That Calms

and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

John 10:4b

In the middle of so many voices — social media, the news, other people's opinions, inner criticism, fear — can you still hear the voice of the Good Shepherd?

His voice has a different quality. It doesn't shame. It doesn't terrify. It calls, guides, comforts. It can be firm at times, it can correct, but there's always love underneath.

Anxiety often begins when we listen to voices that aren't His. The voice that says "you won't make it," "this is going to go wrong," "you're not enough" — that is not the Shepherd's voice.

The more you know the Word of God, the easier it becomes to recognize when it's Him speaking and when it's something else. And when you hear the right voice, your heart grows quiet. Not by magic — by knowing Who is speaking.

Prayer

Lord, teach me to recognize Your voice in the middle of so much noise. When fear speaks loudly, remind me of Your voice, which is greater. Amen.
