Day 77Closer to God — 365 Days

Tomorrow's Weight Is Not Yours

Take therefore no thought for the morrow:

Matthew 6:34a

Tomorrow will come. And when it does, it will carry the grace needed to live it. But that grace is for tomorrow — it isn't available today for you to borrow ahead of time. When you try to carry tomorrow today, you carry the weight without the grace that comes with it. That's where the suffocation comes from.

Jesus understood this better than any psychologist. Not because He ignored the future, but because He trusted the Father who governs the future. And He taught this trust as a way of life, not as naivety.

Living in the present isn't spiritual laziness. It's practical obedience. It's saying: "Today is the day God gave me. I will live it here, with Him, with gratitude."

When you feel your mind slipping ahead to tomorrow — to what might go wrong, to what you don't know yet, to what you're afraid might happen — gently bring it back. "Today. Only today."

Prayer

Lord, teach me to dwell in today. When my mind wants to dwell in tomorrow, call me back. You are the God of now, and now is where I am. Amen.
