Day 76Closer to God — 365 Days

When Worry Turns Into Prayer

but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Philippians 4:6b

There's an art to turning worry into prayer. It's not about suppressing what you feel — it's about redirecting it to the right address. Every single thing that worries you is an invitation to a conversation with God.

"Supplication" is an intense word — it means pleading out of need. God doesn't want only the pretty, polished prayers. He wants the honest pleas, the ones that come from the bottom of your heart when you truly need Him.

And thanksgiving in the middle of it? It might seem strange to give thanks while you're asking, but that's exactly what anchors the prayer. You thank Him for what has already come, and that strengthens your faith for what hasn't arrived yet.

Try this today: take a list of worries — it can be in your head or written down — and turn each item into a prayer. One by one. You'll notice the weight changes address. It's no longer yours — it's God's.

Prayer

Father, here are my requests — no pretty words to wrap them in, straight from the heart. Receive them. And help me give thanks while I wait. Amen.
