Day 75Closer to God — 365 Days

The Peace Jesus Gives

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 14:27

"Not as the world gives it" — the world offers peace through control: organize everything, plan well, solve every problem, have enough money, have perfect health. And when one of those things fails, the world's peace disappears.

Jesus's peace is something else entirely. It doesn't depend on things going well on the outside. It exists even while things are going wrong. It's internal, deep, stable. Like an anchor at the bottom of the sea — the surface of the ocean may be churning, but down where the anchor is set, it's still.

"Let not your heart be troubled" — Jesus says this as a tender command. Not because the feeling is wrong, but because there's a foundation for choosing not to be ruled by fear. That foundation is Him.

You've inherited His peace. It's not something you earn — it's an inheritance. Today you can receive what has already been given.

Prayer

Jesus, today I receive the peace You left. Not the kind the world promises — Yours, which remains even when everything is shaking. I don't want to be troubled. Take care of my heart. Amen.
