Day 60Closer to God — 365 Days

The Peace That Guards

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7

There is a peace that only God can give — and it doesn't make sense. It shows up in situations where, by every human calculation, you should be falling apart, and there it is: a calm that has no rational explanation. That is the peace of God.

It guards. Not just visits — it guards. There's an active movement in that word: the peace of God stands sentry around your heart and your mind. It protects against panic, against despair, against the thoughts that eat away at you. When you come through that door — through prayer, through surrender, through trust — peace comes in and takes up its post.

You don't have to manufacture that peace. You don't have to convince yourself not to feel what you feel. You have to go to Him — and then that peace, which has no explanation, simply arrives and takes over the watch. That is grace. That is God taking care of the most fragile part of you: your heart.

Prayer

God, may Your peace — the kind I cannot explain — guard my heart today. May it care for my heart in the moments when I cannot care for myself. In Christ Jesus, I receive that peace. Amen.
