Day 54 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Letting Go of Control (For Real)
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
Philippians 4:6
"Be careful for nothing" sounds impossible. But the instruction doesn't stop there. What follows is the substitute for anxiety: prayer, supplication, thanksgiving. Instead of carrying the worry, turn it into prayer. Every time anxiety shows up, let it become an invitation to speak with God.
Giving thanks in the middle of worry sounds paradoxical. But that's exactly what breaks the cycle. Gratitude reminds your heart of what God has already done, and that strengthens your faith for what hasn't happened yet. You're not thanking Him for the problem — you're thanking Him because you know the One who is greater than the problem.
That's what truly letting go of control looks like: not acting as if the problem doesn't exist, but turning every worry into a conversation with God. It's trading rumination for prayer. That trade isn't weakness — it's one of the most powerful ways to exercise faith.
Prayer
Lord, instead of worrying, I bring every request to You today. May my anxiety become prayer, and may my prayer become peace. Thank You for hearing every single thing I bring to You. Amen.
