Day 47Closer to God — 365 Days

The River That Never Dries Up

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Psalm 46:1

A refuge is a place you run to when everything outside is dangerous. A stronghold is the place where you're protected when the battle is bigger than your strength. God is both. And He isn't a theoretical refuge — He is a very present help. He is here. Now. In today's trouble.

Sometimes it feels like God is distant precisely in the moments when you need Him most. But that feeling lies. He is closer in distress, not farther away. Distress is exactly the environment where He reveals Himself as a refuge, because that's when you stop depending on everything else and run to Him.

Where are you today? What kind of trouble are you carrying? Whatever it is, there is a place where you can find real protection. It's not a physical place — it's a presence. And that presence is available to you right now, no conditions, no waiting in line.

Prayer

God, today I run to You as my refuge. This trouble is heavy, and I cannot carry it alone. Be my strength, my shield, my safe place. Amen.
