Day 45 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Do Not Lean on Yourself
“Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.”
Proverbs 3:7
Being prudent is good. Thinking before you act is good. But leaning on your own prudence as if it were enough — as if you didn't need God because you're smart and experienced — that's a path that leads to exhaustion.
Human wisdom has limits. You don't know everything, you don't see everything, you can't calculate every variable in a situation. And God isn't asking you to pretend you can. He's asking you to include Him in your decisions, in your analysis, in your plans.
There is a lightness in recognizing that you don't have to be the wisest person in the room. There is rest in saying, "God, what do You think about this?" before moving forward. The humility of seeking His guidance doesn't weaken you — it strengthens you, because now you're connected to a wisdom that has no limit.
Prayer
Father, deliver me from the arrogance of thinking my intelligence is enough. May I seek Your wisdom first in every decision. May Your Spirit guide me where my understanding falls short. Amen.
