Day 43Closer to God — 365 Days

One Day at a Time

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.

Matthew 6:34

Anxiety almost always lives in the future. You are here, but your mind has already gone to tomorrow, to next week, to next month, trying to predict and control what hasn't happened yet. And while you're there in that imagined future, you miss the real today.

Jesus wasn't being naive when He said this. He knew there are real problems ahead. But He also knows you were created to carry the weight of one day at a time — not an entire lifetime all at once. What you'll need tomorrow, He will provide tomorrow. Today, He gives you what you need for today.

Living one day at a time isn't irresponsibility. It's trust. It's saying: I plan what I can, and I leave the rest to God. Each morning brings its own specific grace. You don't need today a strength that hasn't arrived yet — it will come at the right time, for the right moment.

Prayer

Lord, teach me to live this day well without losing myself in tomorrow's fears. May Your grace for today be sufficient for today, and may I trust You for everything else. Amen.
