Day 360 — Closer to God — 365 Days
The God Who Has Sustained
“Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not”
Psalm 71:18a
Look back — not with critical eyes, but with eyes of recognition. How many times did you not know how you'd get through it, and you got through it? How many situations seemed too big, and you made it across? How many moments were you close to giving up, and something — or Someone — held you up?
The God who has sustained you this far is the same God who will sustain you tomorrow. He isn't a God who works for a season and then stops. He is the God of today, of yesterday, of tomorrow.
Psalm 71 is written by someone already in their later years, looking back and asking God to remain present. It's a prayer of recognition and trust: "I have seen the Lord act before. I trust He will act again."
You can pray that prayer too. Recounting what He has already done. And asking Him to continue.
Because He who began a good work in you — will complete it.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for every time You held me up when I thought I was going to sink. Stay with me in the days ahead. Never abandon me. Amen.
