Day 357Closer to God — 365 Days

Leaving Behind What Has Passed

forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before

Philippians 3:13b

Paul knew what it was to carry a heavy past. Before he met Christ, he had persecuted and killed Christians. He could have spent the rest of his life trapped in that guilt. But he chose differently.

He didn't forget that he had done wrong. But he left the past in the past — and pressed on toward what was ahead.

And you? What are you carrying from the year that's ending that doesn't need to follow you into the next one? Mistakes you made? Hurts you've collected? Expectations that weren't met? Versions of yourself you need to let go of?

God doesn't want you to walk into the new year bent under the weight of what's behind you. He wants you to move forward — light, free, eyes fixed ahead.

Confess what needs confessing. Forgive what needs forgiving. And then — move forward.

The best is still ahead of you.

Prayer

Lord, help me leave on Your altar everything I don't need to carry into the next year. May I move forward free, with my eyes fixed on You. Amen.
