Day 356Closer to God — 365 Days

A Thankful Heart

and be ye thankful

Colossians 3:15b

Sometimes the biggest truths fit into a short sentence. Paul didn't preach a sermon. He simply said: "be thankful."

Gratitude isn't naivety. It isn't pretending everything was perfect. It's a posture of the heart that chooses — yes, chooses — to see God's hand even where things seem confusing.

Look back at this year with eyes of gratitude. Not because it was easy — but because you didn't walk through a single day of it alone. Because there was grace where there seemed to be no way out. Because provision arrived at just the right moment. Because you were protected from troubles you don't even know were turned away.

A thankful heart is a heart that sees more. That lives more. That loves more.

Tonight, before you go to sleep, tell God at least one thing you're seeing with new eyes because of what you lived through this year. And let gratitude do its work in you.

Prayer

Father, thank You. For the blessings I can see and the ones I can't. For the answers and for the waiting. For this whole year that has passed — with You. Amen.
