Day 350Closer to God — 365 Days

Gratitude as a Habit

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

Giving thanks "in everything" doesn't mean being thankful "for everything." God isn't asking you to thank Him for the suffering itself — but to find something to be grateful for even in the middle of it.

It's a discipline. A practice. A choice that, little by little, becomes a habit that transforms the way you see life.

As you look back on this year, what do you find? Maybe the obvious things: health that was preserved, someone who showed up at just the right moment, an answered prayer you had almost forgotten. But also the less obvious things: the trial that made you stronger, the no that made room for a better yes, the season of waiting that refined your character.

Gratitude doesn't deny the pain. It simply refuses to let the pain have the last word.

Today, list three things — just three — you're grateful for from this year. See what it does to your heart.

Prayer

Father, open my eyes to Your blessings that are all around me — even in ways I didn't expect. I want to be a person of genuine gratitude. Amen.
