Day 348Closer to God — 365 Days

Mercies That Are New Every Morning

It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23

Jeremiah wrote Lamentations sitting among the ruins of Jerusalem. There's no way to overstate how devastating that moment was. And it was exactly there, at the bottom of the pit, that he found this pearl: God's mercies are new every morning.

Every morning. Not when you deserve it. Not when you've behaved well enough. Every morning — new, fresh, without yesterday's marks.

That means tomorrow morning, when you open your eyes, there will be a fresh portion of grace waiting for you. Not yesterday's leftovers. A new portion. For the new day, with its new challenges.

You don't need to carry the weight of the whole year. You only need mercy for today. And it will be there tomorrow. And the day after. And the day after that.

Great is His faithfulness. And there's no end in sight for it.

Prayer

Faithful Lord, thank You for mercies that never run out. May I wake each morning expecting Your new grace — not the weight of yesterday. Amen.
