Day 343Closer to God — 365 Days

The Weight You Can Lay Down

Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

Hebrews 12:1

Picture a runner trying to race a marathon while carrying a heavy backpack on his shoulders. He might even finish — but at what cost? With what unnecessary pain?

Hebrews calls "weight" everything that burdens us without helping us. It's not just obvious sin — it's the bitterness you keep holding, the worry over what people think, the weight of the past that you keep carrying as if it were still yours to bear.

In this closing month, God is inviting you to a cleaning out. Not to shame you — but to set you free. So that you enter the new year lighter. Freer. With more room for what really matters.

What are you still carrying that isn't yours? What can you lay down at His feet today, and leave it there?

Run. But run light.

Prayer

Father, show me what I'm carrying that I no longer need to. Give me courage to lay down what weighs me down and run with perseverance toward You. Amen.
