Day 342Closer to God — 365 Days

The Joy That Strengthens

The joy of the LORD is your strength.

Nehemiah 8:10

In Nehemiah, the people were weeping as they listened to the law of God — recognizing how much they had failed, how much they had lost. It was a legitimate cry. But Nehemiah said: enough. This day is holy. Eat, drink, rejoice. The joy of the LORD is your strength.

There is a joy that doesn't depend on everything being fine. It's the joy of knowing that God is on the throne, that He is good, that His love never fails. That joy isn't shallow — it's born deep, after much weeping and much walking.

And that joy strengthens. It's not weakness to celebrate in the middle of hardship. It's an act of war. It's declaring to discouragement: "You don't win today."

You can rejoice right now. Not because everything has passed, but because God is here. And that changes everything.

Prayer

Lord, kindle in me the joy that comes only from You — not the shallow joy of circumstances, but the deep joy of knowing I am Yours. May this joy strengthen me today. Amen.
