Day 336 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Hope, to the Very End
“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8
On this last day of the month, the image that remains is that of a tree.
Planted by the waters. Roots that reach the stream. Not a potted plant that depends on you remembering to water it — a tree with deep roots that has found the source and drinks directly from it.
That is the image of someone who has learned to trust in the Lord. Not someone who has never been shaken, never gone through drought, never had a branch broken. But someone whose roots went deep enough to reach the living water — and who, because of that, stays green when the drought comes.
You've spent thirty days thinking about hope. About God's promises, His faithfulness, the certainty of what is not seen. All of that was watering. All of that was root.
Keep drinking. Keep trusting. The tree that drinks from God's source does not wither — no matter what summer brings.
Prayer
Father, let me be that tree. Let my roots go deep into You. Let my hope not depend on the climate around me, but on the source that never runs dry. Thank You for this month of renewed promises. In Jesus's name, amen.
