Day 330Closer to God — 365 Days

God Does Not Forget

Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.

Isaiah 49:15

There are comparisons in the Bible that go straight to a person's heart. This is one of them.

God uses the most intense image of human love that exists — a mother's love for her newborn child — to say: even if that failed, I would not fail.

You may have lived through abandonment. People who promised to stay and didn't. A love that seemed secure and crumbled. The feeling that even God seems distant at times.

But He does not forget. Not you. Not your oldest prayers, not your most secret dreams, not your quietest pains. You are engraved on the palms of His hands — permanent, unerasable.

That is the kind of love that sustains hope even when everything else fails. The love of a God who says: even if everyone forgets you, I cannot. Because you belong to Me.

Prayer

God, thank You that You never forget me. In the moments when I feel forgotten, remind me that I am engraved on Your hands forever. Amen.
