Day 297 — Closer to God — 365 Days
The Widow's Offering
“And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:”
Mark 12:43
The widow at the temple had almost nothing — two small coins. But she gave everything. Jesus wasn't impressed by the large sums the rich gave. He was impressed by her faith. Because giving everything when you have much is generosity. But giving everything when you have little is radical trust in God. She didn't hold back half "just in case." She handed over what she had, believing that God would be enough for whatever came next. Her story asks us: do you trust God enough to give with open hands? Whether it's your time, your money, your love, your energy — what you give in faith, God honors. The amount isn't what matters. The trust behind it is.
Prayer
Lord, I want to have the widow's faith — giving with open hands because I trust in You. May my heart be generous not out of excess, but out of faith. Amen.
