Day 296Closer to God — 365 Days

God Provides for the Future

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.

Matthew 6:34a

Anxiety tends to live in the future. Today's worry is almost always about what might happen tomorrow, next week, next month. And Jesus looks at this with tenderness and says: stop. Not out of naivety — but because the Father who provides today is already waiting for you in tomorrow. God isn't limited to the present the way we are. He's already in your tomorrow. And He has already taken care of things you don't even know are coming. That doesn't mean we shouldn't plan — it means we shouldn't wear ourselves out carrying tomorrow's weight today. You were created to live one day at a time, receiving grace sufficient for today. Tomorrow's grace will be available tomorrow. Live today. Trust Him with the rest.

Prayer

Father, when anxiety about the future comes, remind me that You're already there. May I live today in faith, trusting that You are taking care of tomorrow. Amen.
