Day 295 — Closer to God — 365 Days
A Life of Thanksgiving
“But be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father.”
Ephesians 5:18b-20a
Paul describes an overflowing life — full of the Spirit, full of praise, full of gratitude. Not just a Sunday moment. A whole life like that. The gratitude Paul describes isn't occasional — it's continuous: "giving thanks always." That invites us to consider: what if gratitude were the default posture of my life, not the exception? What if I woke up with it, worked with it, rested with it? A life of thanksgiving isn't a perfect life — it's a life that has learned to see God in everything. That notices His hand in the ordinary. That pauses to give thanks before rushing to the next commitment. Start cultivating that habit today. Gratitude isn't an emotion that waits for the right moment — it's a daily choice.
Prayer
Holy Spirit, fill my heart with genuine gratitude. May thanksgiving be the rhythm of my life, not just of my special moments. Amen.
