Day 28Closer to God — 365 Days

Where to Go When You Don't Know Where to Go

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

There are crossroads with no signs.

You've analyzed it, asked people you trust, weighed the pros and cons in your head — and you still don't know. The situation is too complex for your understanding to reach.

Proverbs doesn't say understanding is the enemy. It says not to lean on it — not to rest the full weight of the decision on what you can see with your own mind. Because your mind, however sharp it is, has limits.

God's doesn't.

"Acknowledge him in all thy ways" — that's more than praying once. It's cultivating a posture of constant consultation, of sensitivity to what He points out, of openness to being surprised by the direction He shows.

And then He makes the paths straight. It might not be the wide, clear road you wanted. But it will be the right path.

Prayer

Father, I don't trust my own understanding as much as I used to. Teach me to acknowledge You in every decision and to trust that You will make my path straight. Amen.
