Day 247 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Kindness That Imitates God
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.”
Ephesians 4:32
Kindness. Sounds simple enough to talk about, doesn't it? But in practice, when the person who hurt you is standing right in front of you, kindness can be the hardest thing in the world.
Paul isn't asking you to pretend everything's fine. He's asking for something much deeper: that you imitate God. That your kindness come from the same place His kindness toward you came from.
When God forgave you, did you deserve it? When He was merciful, had you earned it? No. It was grace. Pure grace, that didn't look at your ledger of mistakes.
That's the model Paul points to. Not reciprocity — "I'll be kind if she's kind to me." But grace — "I'll give what I received, even without deserving to get it back."
That changes everything. Because it shifts the focus off who the other person is and onto who God is. And who is God? Merciful, kind, patient — with you, every single day.
You can be that reflection of Him today.
Prayer
Father, let my kindness not depend on what others deserve, but on who You are. Let me reflect Your mercy to the people around me. Amen.
