Day 238 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Running with Patience
“Let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”
Hebrews 12:1
The word "race" here has the sense of a long distance. It's not a hundred-meter dash — it's a marathon. And Hebrews tells us to run with patience, not with haste.
A life of purpose is rarely a sprint. It's a series of faithful days, one after another, forming something bigger than any single day seems to be.
You're in this race. And sometimes getting tired is part of it. Marathon runners don't sprint at full speed the whole way — they learn to find the right pace to endure. They learn to keep their eyes on the goal, not on the runners beside them.
Laying aside the weight is part of the process — the excessive worry, the comparison, the sin that keeps you trapped in the same cycles. They make the race impossible.
Today, if you're weary from the race, don't give up — adjust your pace. Look to Jesus, the author and finisher of faith. He ran before you. And He runs with you now.
Prayer
Lord, when the race grows tiring, I look to You. Take from me every unnecessary weight, and teach me to run with patience, without looking to either side. Amen.
