Day 236Closer to God — 365 Days

You Are Salt and Light

Ye are the salt of the earth... Ye are the light of the world.

Matthew 5:13-14

Salt doesn't shout. It doesn't draw attention to itself. But food without it is tasteless. Light doesn't force anyone to see — it simply shines, and whoever is in the dark finds their way.

This is the calling Jesus places on you. Not to be famous. Not to have a stage. To be a transforming presence right where you are.

God's purpose for your life often looks like salt and light — invisible under the spotlight, essential in practice. It's the person who listens to a neighbor without judgment. Who prays for a coworker who doesn't know they're being prayed for. Who keeps the peace in the chaos of family life. Who offers generosity when everyone else is holding back.

You don't need to go far to fulfill your calling. It begins here, in this neighborhood, in this house, in this workplace. Be salt. Be light. Let the fragrance of Christ touch those around you.

Prayer

Father, make me salt and light where I am. Let my presence make a difference without needing recognition. Let Christ show through me. Amen.
