Day 232Closer to God — 365 Days

Talents That Cannot Stay Buried

Who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

Matthew 25:14

In the parable of the talents, the master didn't wait for the servants to ask. He gave. He trusted. And he went away.

God did the same with you. He gave you gifts, talents, abilities, experiences — and He trusts you to use them. Not expecting you to be perfect. Not expecting you to feel ready. Trusting you to be faithful with what you received.

The servant who buried his talent wasn't evil by nature. He was afraid. And fear is purpose's greatest enemy.

The fear of not being good enough. The fear of failing in public. The fear that what you have isn't enough for God to use.

But the master in the parable didn't evaluate by the size of the talent. He evaluated by faithfulness. Two talents or five — the praise was the same for whoever used what they were given.

Use what you have. Don't wait until you have more.

Prayer

Lord, I don't want to bury what You've given me out of fear. Give me courage to use every gift I've received, for Your glory and the good of the people around me. Amen.
