Day 225 — Closer to God — 365 Days
A Chosen Generation
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.”
1 Peter 2:9
Sometimes we feel so ordinary, so common, so exactly like everyone else. You get up early, make coffee, care for the family, go to work, come home tired. Where's the grand calling in this everyday life?
But Peter wasn't writing to heroes. He was writing to ordinary people who had been chosen. And that choosing changes your identity: you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a people of God's own possession.
Not by merit. By grace.
And the purpose that comes with that identity is as possible as breakfast: to proclaim the praises of the One who called you into the light. In everyday life. In how you treat people. In the hope you carry even on hard days. In the faith that doesn't go out when everything around you is darkness.
You were called out of darkness into the light. And as you live in that light, you shine on the people around you. No stage. No microphone. Just being who you are in Christ.
Prayer
Father, thank You for choosing me and calling me into Your light. May my life proclaim Your praises in every everyday detail. Amen.
