Day 224 — Closer to God — 365 Days
It Is God Who Works in You
“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
Philippians 2:13
One of the most liberating things you can understand about your calling is this: you don't have to make it happen alone.
God works in you to will — He places the right desires in your heart. And He works to do — He gives the power for you to carry it out. You cooperate, you act, you surrender. But it is He who produces the fruit.
This lifts an enormous weight off your shoulders. You don't need to torment yourself when you lack motivation — ask Him to work the willing in you. When you feel you have no strength for the next step — remember it is He who does the doing.
Of course, this isn't spiritual laziness. It's healthy dependence. It's recognizing that we are vessels, not the source. That we cooperate with Him, but the power is entirely His.
Today, if you have no desire to keep going, pray and ask Him to work in you. He promised He does this according to His good pleasure — and His good pleasure for you is more than you can imagine.
Prayer
God, work in me both the willing and the doing. Where I am without strength, be my strength. Where the desire is missing, kindle in me the longing for Your will. Amen.
