Day 219Closer to God — 365 Days

The Desires of Your Heart

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Psalm 37:4

Have you ever stopped to think that God cares about what you desire? Not just what you need to survive — but what you dream of, what makes your eyes light up, what you're almost ashamed to ask for because it seems too big.

The condition in this verse isn't to try harder, be holier, pray more hours. It's to delight yourself in Him. To find your deepest joy in God. When the heart is in tune with His heart, desires begin to change — and the ones that remain are the ones He planted there Himself.

Sometimes our desires need to be purified, exchanged for greater ones. But that happens through delight, not torment. When you spend time with Him, when you seek His presence as treasure, the desires of your heart begin to echo His voice.

Today, delight yourself. Just that.

Prayer

Lord, I want to delight myself in You above all things. Purify the desires of my heart and make them echo Yours. Amen.
