Day 195 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Create in Me a Clean Heart
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”
Psalm 51:10
There is a pain that comes from outside — loss, rejection, grief. But there is also a pain that comes from within — guilt, regret, the awareness that we did something wrong and are carrying it like a weight.
David wrote this psalm after a serious sin. And his prayer wasn't "God, forget it" or "pretend it never happened." It was: create something new in me. Renew. Begin again.
The word "create" here is the same one used in Genesis for the creation of the world. David was asking God for a creative act — bringing out of nothing a heart he himself could not produce.
If you're carrying the weight of guilt today, this prayer is for you. You don't have to clean up your heart before you ask — you ask, and He cleanses. He creates what you don't have the strength to create. A new beginning, clean and real.
Prayer
God, create in me what I cannot create on my own. Cleanse what is stained, renew what is weary. I trust in Your work. Amen.
