Day 192Closer to God — 365 Days

Beauty from Ashes

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Isaiah 61:3

Ashes are what's left after something burns. After a loss, a betrayal, a dream that never came true — what seems to remain sometimes is only ash. What was once beautiful, alive, full of color, seems to have turned to dust.

But God specializes in trading ashes for glory. Not in pretending the fire never happened, but in creating something new and beautiful out of what was left. That's redemption — taking what was destroyed and turning it into a testimony.

The oil of joy in place of mourning doesn't erase the pain. It's an overlay. The mourning was real — and now joy comes. The garment of praise covers the spirit of heaviness; it doesn't pretend that heaviness never existed.

You may still be in the season of ashes. But the God who makes exchanges is watching over you and already preparing the beauty that comes next. Trust the process.

Prayer

Father, I don't understand how, but I trust that You make beautiful things out of what seems lost. Do that in my life. Amen.
