Day 19Closer to God — 365 Days

Faith When You Feel Nothing

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength.

Isaiah 40:31a

There are days when faith has to be a decision, not a feeling.

You don't sense God's presence. Your prayers seem to hit the ceiling. The Bible feels like text, not life. And you wonder if something is wrong with you — or with Him.

Nothing is wrong. You're in a spiritual desert, and these seasons are part of the journey of every Christian who truly encounters God.

"Those who wait" — the Hebrew word qavah also means to wait with tension, like a taut rope. It's an active waiting, not a passive one. It's you choosing to trust even when you don't feel it.

Faith without feeling isn't weak faith. It may actually be the most mature faith there is — because it doesn't depend on the emotion of the moment, but on the unchanging truth of who God is.

Today, choose to wait. Not because you feel much, but because He is faithful even when you feel nothing at all.

Prayer

Father, I'm not feeling much today. But I choose to wait on You anyway. Renew my faith, not my feelings — and remind me that You are faithful no matter how I feel. Amen.
