Day 18 — Closer to God — 365 Days
You Are Not What Happened to You
“Thou art mine.”
Isaiah 43:1b
Sometimes life writes things on our skin that we carry around as identity. The betrayal. The divorce. The illness. The failure. The rejection. And without realizing it, we start introducing ourselves by what we've suffered, rather than by who we are.
But God says something very simple and very powerful: you are Mine.
Not "you are what happened to you." Not "you are your worst mistake." Not "you are what people think of you."
You belong to Him. That is your truest identity. Older than any wound, deeper than any failure, more permanent than any circumstance.
What happened to you may have been real and painful. But it doesn't define who you are. The One who defines you is the One who created you, who redeemed you, and who chose to call you His own.
Today, let that truth sink deeper than the pain.
Prayer
Lord, help me see myself through Your eyes. May my identity be built on what You say about me, and not on what the world, other people, or my own wounds have tried to convince me of. Amen.
