Day 182 — Closer to God — 365 Days
The Bible as a Mirror
“But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”
James 1:25
James uses the image of a mirror. You look, you see your reflection, and then you have a choice: remember what you saw, or walk away and forget?
God's Word works the same way. You read it, and it shows you who you are and who you can become. It reveals, corrects, instructs, inspires. But what do you do with it after you close the book?
Being a "doer of the word" isn't about being perfect or having everything figured out. It's about letting what you read change something in your day. An attitude. A choice. A different response in a hard conversation. A step of faith you took because God spoke.
James's promise is beautiful: whoever does this is blessed. Not the one who knows the most, not the one who reads the most — the one who puts it into practice, however small the step.
Today, as you read the Bible, ask: what is God asking me to do with this? And then, do it.
Prayer
Lord, may I not be only a reader of Your Word, but a doer. May everything I learn in You become real, lived-out life in my day. Amen.
