Day 180Closer to God — 365 Days

The Prayer of the Broken Heart

The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart.

Psalm 34:18

There are days when prayer is born broken. No beautiful words come out, no structure, no liturgy. Only tears, or silence, or a stifled cry that can't even finish a sentence.

On those days, this verse is your guarantee.

The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart. Not to those who are doing fine. Not to those who have everything together. To the brokenhearted. To you, when you're on the floor.

A broken heart isn't an obstacle to prayer — it's the place where God draws nearest. Like a doctor who doesn't flee from a wound but seeks it out to heal it, God leans in over the wounded heart.

You don't need to pretend you're okay to pray. You don't need to fix your condition before coming to Him. Come exactly as you are — cracks and all. And discover that the God of the universe is closer to you now than when you were fine.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for never running from my broken moments. I am here, with a broken heart, and I know You are near. That is enough. Amen.
